What are they?’ He (s.a.w) said, ‘To join others in worship along with Allah, to practice sorcery, to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause, to consume Riba, to eat up an orphan’s wealth, to give back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting, and to accuse a chaste women, who never thought of anything touching chastity and are good believers.’”

[Bukhari, Kitab Al-Shahadaat (52), 2653]
“The texts of Quran & Sunnah have indicated that the punishment for sins can be removed from the servant by about ten causes. First: Repentance, as agreed upon amongst the Muslims. Second: Seeking forgiveness. Third: Good deeds which wipe out (evil ones). Fourth: That which repels punishment, the supplication of the believers for a believer, such as praying over his funeral. Fifth: What is done for the dead of righteous deeds such as charity and its likes. Sixth: The intercession of the Prophet (s.a.w) and others for the sinners on the Day of Judgement. Seventh: Calamities by which Allah expiates sins in the life of this world. Eighth: What occurs in the grave of tribulation, compression and fear. Ninth: The terrors of the Day of Judgement and the severity of its hardships. Tenth: Allah’s mercy, His pardon and forgiveness without any reason from the servant.”

Abdur Rahman bin Auf said, “O Allah’s Apostle, even you are weeping!” He said, “O Ibn Auf, this is mercy.” Then he wept more and said, “The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrahim !

“Few individuals significantly alter the course of history. Fewer still modify the map of the world. Hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation-state. Muhammad Ali Jinnah did all three.”
These are the opening lines of the preface of Stanley Wolpert’s book, “Jinnah of Pakistan”
First Published in 1984
“I find no parallel in history for a body of converts and their descendants claiming to be a nation apart from the parent stock. If India was one nation before the advent of Islam, it must remain one in spite of the change of faith of a very large body of her children.”
[Jinnah of Pakistan by Wolpert, 232-233]

[Bukhari, Kitab Al-Maghazi (64), 4340]
