Farewell Hajj Sermon of Prophet (1)

[Sahih Muslim, Kitab Al-Hajj (15), Hadith 2950]

Farewell Hajj Sermon of Prophet (2)

Narrated by Abu Bakra (r.a), The Prophet (s.a.w) gave a sermon on the Day of Nahr. He (s.a.w) said ... “Have I conveyed Allah’s message to you?” They said, “Yes.” He (s.a.w) said, “O Allah! Be witness. It is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend it better than the present audience, who will convey it to him. Beware! Don’t become disbelievers after me by striking one another’s necks.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Al-Janaiz (23), Hadith 1741]

Completion & Perfection of Islam

“... This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion ...”

[Surah Al-Maida (5): Ayat 3]

How a Jew Described it’s Importance

[Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Al-Imaan (2), Hadith 45]

Etiquettes on Preaching Islam

“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.”

[Surah An-Nahl (16): Ayat 125]

Must Convey the Messenge of Islam

Narrated by Abdullah bin Amr (r.a) that the Prophet (s.a.w) said, “Convey to the people even if it were a single verse, and tell others the stories of Bani Israel, for it is not sinful to do so. And whoever tells a lie on me intentionally, will surely take his place in the (Hell) Fire.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Ahadith An-Anbiya (60), Hadith 3461]

Accept or Reject Israeli Narrations

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (r.a), “The people of the book used to read the Torah in Hebrew and then explain it in Arabic to the Muslims. Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w) said (to the Muslims), ‘Do not believe the people of the book, nor disbelieve them, but say the Ayat, “We believe in Allah and whatever is revealed to us, and whatever is revealed to you.”’”

[Sahih Bukhari, Book on Holding to the Quran and Sunnah (96), Hadith 7362]

Do Not Force Islam on Others (1)

“There shall be no compulsion in religion. The right course
has become clear from the wrong ...”

[Surah Al-Baqarah (2): Ayat 256]

Do Not Force Islam on Others (2)

“Say, ‘(It is) the truth from the Lord. Then whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, let him disbelieve’ ...”

[Surah Al-Kahf (18): Ayat 29]

Do Not Force Islam on Others (3)

“And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed - all of them entirely. Then, would you compel the people in order that they become believers?”

[Surah Yunus (10): Ayat 99]

Data Information Knowledge and Wisdom Pyramid
DIKW Pyramid is the deep understanding of a subject through four qualitative stages

The Prophet’s Wise Decision

Al-Aswad bin Yazid narrated that Ibn Zubair (r.a) said ... “She (Aisha) narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah said, ‘Had your people not been still close to the pre-Islamic period of ignorance, then I would demolish the Kabah and rebuild it with two doors.’” ...

[Tirmidhi, Kitab Al-Hajj (7), 875] (Sahih)

Self-Realisation of Aisha (r.a)

Aisha (r.a) narrated, “Messenger of Allah died during my turn with (his head) on neck and chest. I did not wrong anyone, but it was my foolishness & adolescence that even though the Prophet (s.a.w) died in my lap, yet I placed his head on the pillow and together with the women, started crying and banging my face.”

[Musnad Ahmad, 26348] (Hasan)

Calling Towards Islam with Wisdom

“And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversation. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the wrongdoing people.”

[Surah Al-Anam (6): Ayat 68]

Prophet Preached Very Wisely

Narrated by Ibn Masud (r.a) that the Prophet used to take care of us in preaching by selecting a suitable time, so that we might not get bored.

[Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Al-Ilm (3), Hadith 68]

How the Companions used to Preach

Ibn Abbas (r.a) narrated, “Preach to the people once a week, and if more, then preach them twice, but if more, then let it be three times, and do not make the people fed-up with Quran. If you find people engaged in talk, don’t start preaching, lest you should cause them to be bored. Rather keep quiet, till they ask you, then preach them when they are eager to hear ...”

[Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Ad-Dawaat (80), Hadith 6337]

The Foundation of Argument (1)

“And if We had willed, We could have sent into every city a warner. So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive against them with the Qur'an a great striving.”

[Surah Al-Furqan (25): Ayat 51-52]

The Foundation of Argument (2)

“There shall be no compulsion in religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.”

[Surah Al-Baqarah (2): Ayat 256]

The Best Amongst Muslims (1)

“And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and (humbly) claims, ‘Indeed, I am of the Muslims.’”

[Surah Fussilat (41): Ayat 33]

The Best Amongst Muslims (2)

Narrated by Uthman (r.a) that the Prophet (s.a.w) said, “The best amongst you (Muslims) are those who learn the Quran and teach it.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Fazail Al-Quran (66), Hadith 5027]

Purpose of Forming this Ummah

“And thus We have made you a balanced just, and middle nation that you may be the bearers of witness to the people and (that) the Apostle may be a bearer of witness to you ...”

[Surah Al-Baqarah (2): Ayat 143]

Four Contexts (1) - Martyrs

“And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, ‘They are dead.’ Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not.”

[Surah Al-Baqarah (2): Ayat 154]

Martyrs are Mentioned in Hadith

Hasana daughter of Muawiyah narrated on the authority of her paternal uncle, who asked the Prophet (s.a.w) about the people in Paradise. He (s.a.w) replied, “Prophets are in Paradise, martyrs are in Paradise, infants are in Paradise and children buried alive are in Paradise.”

[Abu Dawood, Kitab Al-Jihad (15), 2521] (Sahih)

Four Contexts (2) - Helpers

“And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful.”

[Surah Al-Baqarah (2): Ayat 23]

Four Contexts (3) - Present

“Or were you present when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, ‘Who will you worship after me?’ They said, ‘We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.’”

[Surah Al-Baqarah (2): Ayat 133]

Four Contexts (4) - Witness

“And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient.”

[Surah An-Noor (2): Ayat 23]

Allah’s Call to Stand for Justice

“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives ...”

[Surah An-Nisa (4): Ayat 135]

All Messengers Will Stand Witness

“How will it be, then, when We bring from every people a witness
and bring you as a witness against these?”

[Surah An-Nisa (4): Ayat 41]

How Prophet Muhammad Felt

Ibn Masood narrated, “Prophet (s.a.w) asked me, ‘Recite to me.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! Shall I recite while it has been revealed to you?’ He (s.a.w) said, ‘Yes.’ So I recited Surah An-Nisa, and when I recited the Verse, ‘How (will it be) then when We bring from each nation a witness and We bring you as a witness against these people.’ He (s.a.w) said, ‘Enough for now,’ I looked at him and his eyes were overflowing with tears.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Fazail Al-Quran (66), Hadith 5050]

When Noah ؑ will Stand Witness

[Sahih Bukhari, Kitab Ahadith Al-Anbiya (60), Hadith 3339]

When Esa ؑ will Stand Witness

“And when Allah will say, ‘O Isa son of Marium! did you say to men, Take me and my mother for two gods besides Allah?’ He (e.s) will say, ‘Glory be to Thee, it did not befit me that I should say what I had no right to (say) ...’”

[Surah Al-Maida (5): Ayat 116]

Demonstration of the Character

... I said, “O Mother of the believers, tell me about the character of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w).” She (Aisha) asked, “Do you not read the Quran?” I said, “Of course (I do).” She (r.a) said, “The character of the Prophet of Allah (s.a.w) was the Quran.” ...

[Sahih Muslim, Kitab Salat Al-Musafarin (6), 1739]

How the Chief of Yamamah Reverted

Narrated by Saeed bin Abi Saeed that Abu Hurairah (r.a) said, “Some cavalry was sent towards Najd ... the leader of the people of Yamamah. They tied him to one of the pillars of the Masjid, then the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) came out to him and said, ‘What do you have to say, O Thumamah?’ He said, ‘... If you kill me, you will kill one who has shed blood, and if you show me kindness, you will be showing kindness to one who is grateful, and if you want money, then ask, and you will be given whatever you want.’ ... The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said, ‘Let Thumamah go.’ So he (Thumamah) ... said, ‘... O Muhammad, by Allah, there was no face on earth that was more hateful to me than your face, but now your face has become the dearest of all faces to me. By Allah, there was no religion on earth ...’ ...”

[Sahih Muslim, Kitab Al-Jihad (32), 4589]

Why of a Separate Muslim State?

“... I therefore demand the formation of a consolidated Muslim State in the best interests of India and Islam ... For Islam it will be an opportunity to rid itself of the stamp that Arabian Imperialism was forced to give it, to mobilize its laws, its education, its culture and bring them into closer contact with its own original spirit and with the spirit of modern times ...”

[Presidential Address by Muhammad Iqbal in Allahabad 1930]
